Understanding your skin type
Your skin type decides how you tan. Find out which type you are and what it means for your sessions.

Skin types are usually described on a scale from I to VI, based on how easily your skin burns and tans.
- Type I - very fair, always burns, never tans. Sunbeds are not suitable for type I skin.
- Type II - fair, burns easily, tans slowly. Very short sessions, built up carefully.
- Type III - medium, sometimes burns, tans gradually.
- Type IV - olive, rarely burns, tans easily.
- Types V and VI - darker skin that rarely or never burns.
When a sunbed isn't right for you
Please don't use a sunbed if you have very fair skin that always burns, lots of moles or freckles, a history of skin cancer or sunburn as a child, or if you're taking medication that makes you sensitive to UV. If in doubt, speak to your GP.
Our team will help you work out your skin type on your first visit.
